Description

Welcome Day 2020

Celebrate your JD admission with us in TORONTO!

We are delighted to have you join the Faculty of Law.

At this day-long event you will connect with senior students, faculty, alumni and staff, and of course, meet your fellow newly admitted students. You will also delve into the many features and benefits that makes enrolment in our JD program a rewarding experience like no other.

ADMITS REGISTRATION & DEADLINE

You do not have to accept the offer of admission in order to attend. As long as you did not decline the offer by the event date, then we hope that you can attend.

Please register by the end of day (Toronto time) MONDAY FEBRUARY 3rd via this Eventbrite page.

Additional (non-admit) Guests
Given the large turnout expected, our first priority will be to our admitted students. It is premature to know if there will be spaces for additional (non-admit) guests at the event.

  • If after the final event registration deadline there are spaces available, only then will we open the event to additional guests (non-admits).
  • We will inform registrants if and when this may be possible, but note that it may be as late as just one or two days before the event.
  • If space permits, only one additional guest will be allowed per admitted student.
  • Additional guests are expected to participate in the entire day-long event at the law school, post-event attendance at the pub is optional. If a guest is only interested in a tour, then please book a tour separately from the event.

Dress Code
Business casual, and also dress in accordance with the winter weather (e.g. avoid high heels).

What to Bring
Your cheery disposition! Leave your Offer of Admission package at home. You will be provided with materials if you wish to take notes.

Jackman Law Building

Location
All activities will be in the new Jackman Law Building, the 4th building south of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) on Queen's Park (street).

For newcomers to the campus we recommend entering from Queen's Park, into the east side or south of the building. See campus map.

Transit & Parking

To get here by public transit (TTC), travel to the Museum subway station, exit on the south west side. It's a one-minue walk to the Jackman Law Building.

Event Check In begins at 8:30 am

Please arrive during the check-in time as this is a day-long event, rather than a drop-in event. The first session will begin promptly at 9:00 am. Begin in the main atrium at street level in the Jackman Law Building.

Schedule
Please plan for:

  • the formal event to run from 8:30 am-4:45 pm entirely in the Jackman Law Building

  • immediately following the event from 5:00-7:00 pm, an optional informal get together with current JD students, at a pub located a short walking distance from the law school

We are planning to provide you with the opportunity to get the insight of, and meet with, the Dean, faculty, current students, career development staff, student services and financial aid staff, our Indigenous Initiatives Office staff, representatives from our legal clinics and internships, and alumni.
